Making it free update on Amazon – the afterglow

What a wild ride! So to recap, I had a mini-blog tour and made Amador Lockdown free for two days to celebrate. I got about 4 compliments from total strangers. Some reviews came out at the same time. I had one person ask if they could link it to another site and another approached me on Facebook about it.

My friend sent me pics to report that Brenda and I were at the same exact spot #462 only she was on ‘paid’ and I was on the ‘free’ list. Too cool!

My highest rank overall was 430 according to the KND eBook Tracker. Total ‘sales’ from US, UK, and DE were just shy of 1k. I asked for help from the Indie Author Group on Facebook to set up an author profile in those two countries which I’ll get to today.

I’ve given away (made free) a number of short works and some of the longer ones and have about 5k total in downloads, but doing this on Amazon instead of some other site just made it thrilling. I can also see with so many ‘free’ books there (I picked up a couple myself this weekend) that this potentially has really knocked the wind out of the sails of $.99. Although with the three I have up now, I can’t see pricing above $.99, the next ones coming out will definitely be higher and I can make them ‘free’ as a part of book promotions.

Interesting times!

And of course I woke up this morning and saw I had tumbled right back to where I was on the ‘paid’ list (200k+) so the big question is, did this help future sales of Amador Lockdown or sales of my other books. I’ll watch it and see.
